I have been a wide leg, baggy/boyfriend style, bell bottom, bootcut trouser girl for as long as I can remember and I thank my Mum for that. It's a style that is quite literally so cool, therefore I'm glad that it's popular right not. Though it's being called a trend for SS21, I consider it more of a forever staple. Having a pair of wide leg trousers in your wardrobe that you can turn to for business, smart casual or even casual wear is essential. They are more versatile than you think.

Wide leg trousers have been on runways forever, they've never really left the limelight, especially in collections from Brandon Maxwell and Ralph Lauren. When you see a model strut down the runway in them, you're instantly drawn to them (and if you're not, let's talk). The way the fabric moves and speaks; it's something else.

So recently Mum and I (I like to take credit but this was all Mum) decided to make a few new pairs of wide leg trousers and it was the best decision. Not only did we make new pairs, we went for bold colours and slightly different styles with each pair. Oh and they are all low rise.

Now before you have a field day, because low rise is apparently the enemy or something, Mum and I are low rise girls. Always have been, always will be. We've never been high waisted people, it doesn't suit us. But low rise? We have a wonderful relationship with this particular fit. It feels very boyfriend and for me personally, ironically, it doesn't make me feel self-conscious... I know, make it make sense right? I think it's because it's one of those styles I'm so comfortable in, I don't ever feel like it lets me down.

They make me feel very boss bitch - more so in these colours. Tell me that a bold coloured trouser doesn't say power?

I love each of these looks, but that pink trouser with the green shirt is a combination I didn't know I needed and now I need an excuse to wear it out somewhere. I will outfit repeat without any shame.

This borrowed-from-the-boys, relaxed yet put together style is something that I think needs more attention. And I'm so glad that right now this trend and style is making the rounds and I think it's here to stay.

I've found a few gorgeous pairs of wide leg trousers in Zara that I think are perfect staples to add to your wardrobe. Click the images to shop!

The Shoe Trends You Need To Wear This Summer

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm a shoe girl. I love shoes. It's the part of my wardrobe I know will overflow to the point where it's a bit crazy. I haven't even begun to invest in shoes the way I want to, but oh do I sit and stare at photos of shoes that I want desperately. I was doing just that when the idea for this blogpost came to mind. And so I'm here, letting you know the shoe trends for Summer 2021 that you should and will be living in.

*Disclaimer: Affiliate links are used. They do not cost you any extra, they just support my work!*

KITTEN HEELS

The first pair on my mind are those Prada slingback kitten heels with a little logo detail that seem to come in every colour. And guess what? I want a pair in every colour. As we ease our way back into a new normal, the world opening up once again, we're planning more dinners and outings and excuses to get dressed up. Now kitten heels are the perfect transition from your slippers back into everyday life. Rather than opting for your highest heel, kitten heels give you an elevation and elegance that won't kill your feet. I've always loved a kitten heel and I think they are the perfect option for summer.

SLIP ON

Summer is the easy season and so we want what we wear to match the mood. Having footwear that is easy to put on and take off, that don't ask for much effort, are the way forward. I personally love the Gianvito Rossi heeled thong sandals that I think are perfect for summers year after year. Plus, living in a tropical country right now means I know that the only things I reach for are my flip flops and slides - they are the best investment.

RAFFIA

I saw the Bottega Veneta raffia heeled sandals and said "watch these be absolutely everywhere". They literally scream *summer*. We all love getting out a raffia bag or hat for the season, but why not take it to our feet instead? Of course espadrilles are always a summer staple, but new styles give you a wardrobe update.

GLADIATOR

I have always loved this style; of course very Roman/Greek influenced, they have always been a summer staple. This style has been refreshed with platform soles and different tie-up styles, so there's an option for everyone. Personally, I opt for the barely there style of gladiators as they are the most flattering for me, but I do love the calf length styles that make a statement.

SPARKLE

From Amina Muaddi to Manolo Blahnik, from Jimmy Choo to Mach & Mach, there are endless options of sparkle shoes and I don't think this trend is every going to die. And I'm glad it won't. After this last year, we deserve to be a bit outrageous and bold with our clothing, especially our shoes because hello... *shoes*. They are my favourite accessory and if they can sparkle, even better. This style is perfect for those dinners out that you've been planning over the summer months; I can just see it, the sun setting on the horizon, a glass of wine in hand, a cute outfit and those sparkly shoes that just bring you so much joy.

BALLERINAS

Not that they ever left, but ballerinas are definitely reminding us they are still around. I think the brand that has brought this to light is Valentino with their Roman Rockstud ballerinas. They are classic to the brand's style and super statement. I love them; give me a pair in every colour and I'll wear them in any season. Again, ballerinas are a super easy style to wear and they can dress up an outfit without needing to wear a heel.

What shoe trend are you ready to rock this Summer? Is it one of these or something else? I know that the grandad sandal trend is in and I'm sorry, I can't wrap my head around that one... but if you love it then go for it! Personally I think it's all about the slip ons and gladiators for me; its what I've been wearing for summers on end and they have never done me wrong. I definitely need to invest in some of the sparklies though... ugh. You know what, I'm going to go stare at shoes again.

I hope you're all staying safe and well! Sending you lots of love,
