MEDITERRANEAN SUMMER VIBE GUIDE

Oh the Mediterranean... One of the dreamiest parts of Europe, especially in the Summertime. The Southern Coast of France, Italy, Greece, Morrocco, Spain... I can feel myself already lost in the Pinterest boards of inspiration. I know we all start day dreaming of going and soaking up the sun, lazing by the sea and just being effortlessly fabulous.

The Mediterranean is my latest vibe, especially for the summer. It's where I want to be, it's one of the styles I love and it just puts you in a romantic summer mood. Because that's were my head is at right now in terms of fashion, I thought I would share my current favourite pieces to fully encapsulate the style - both at designer and high street retailers.

Powerful Prints

If you didn't see it, Dior held their Cruise 2020 runway show in a literal fire backdropped palace in Marrakech. It looked so divine, something out of a dream and the clothes were absolutely gorgeous. One piece that particularly stood out to me was what InTheFrow's Victoria & Shailene Woodley wore. The multi paisley style printed silk dress with an uneven hem just oozes effortless Mediterranean summer and I'm here for it. I plan to either find this dress, something similar or just get something similar made. Zimmermann, the brand of my soul, also has a range of beautiful printed pieces that are calling my name and wanting me to book a flight to the Amalfi Coast.

Another print that I'm going for this season is the porcelain style. I've been in love with this print forever. My mum has one of those typical porcelain vases, which is probably one of my favourite things in the house and I've always wanted something in that print. Luckily for everyone, Lorna Luxe came out with her InTheStyle range and has pieces in the exact print, in various colours. Erm, yeah I'm ready to throw my money at that.

I'm also in love with the signature tile style prints that are forever present in the Mediterranean, as brands like Dolce & Gabbana continuously display season after season with their Sicilian influence and Majolica inspired prints. Another influencer and boss babe who has taken inspiration from the Mediterranean this season is WeWoreWhat's Danielle Bernstein. She just released another collaboration with swimwear brand, Onia, and let me tell you it is such a beautiful collection with something for everyone. If you don't mind spending a little more on your swim this summer, then I definitely recommend it.

Here are some printed pieces that I'm lusting after that are perfect for the season.

Wistful Whites

White will always be one of those colours that I constantly wear, like black. But the difference with white, especially during Spring Summer is that it instantly lifts you in spirit and mood. Something about the pureness of white just makes me feel good. This season brings the sweetest of white dresses and blouses that are sure to be on every woman's Instagram. I'm definitely focusing towards sundresses and billowing blouses that slip onto my body with ease in the summer heat.

My inspiration at the moment for white this season has to be from brands such as Zimmermann & Jacquemus. Right now Jacquemus is up there in my favourites - the knot front white shirt dress is perfect for the season and I've seen some great dupes. The great thing about white is it's versatility - you can wear it day to night, casual or dressed up. I'm all for the Broderie Anglaise, fluid silhouettes and intricate details on white pieces this season.

Puffed Sleeves

Puffed sleeves have become one of those trends that I love. There's something so beautiful and elegant about oversized sleeves. Rather than wearing something tight, you can opt for billowing sleeves that have movement and a new structure. The puffed sleeves style with a wide square neckline is so ideal for me.

Outfit: Dress - ASOS (similar) / Slides - Aldo / Jewellery: Custom & Cartier

Take this little black dress from ASOS that I'm wearing. The sleeves are probably my favourite part of it. The style adds something interesting to a simple dress, a dimension that isn't so over-the-top but enough to be noticed. I don't even think I need to explain it much, you can see for yourself.

My advice for this summer is to get blouses with puffed sleeves to pair with denims and skirts. An easy everyday outfit would be a pair of cut-off denim shorts with a puffed sleeve blouse, a cute pair of sandals or slides and a wicker bag. Instant Mediterranean chic.

Here are favourite options right now for the best in big sleeves:

Barely There Footwear

Barely There footwear is everything right now and I am so in love with this trend. I'll take these over ugly dad sneakers any day. The Row have pioneered the trend of course, with the likes of Loewe and Celine following suit. These sandals are everywhere right now, and you don't have to spend all your paycheck to get something similar (thank you Zara & Mango dupes).

These sandals are the perfect addition to your wardrobe because they can work from day to night, the versatility is brilliant. They are dressy enough to put an outfit together and they are minimal enough to not feel over the top. These are the kind of shoes I'll be living in this season.

The other style that have taken my heart and I want so much are the Chanel perspex sandals that are currently plastered across my Instagram. This style is also perfect for the Mediterranean vibe this season - perfect for daily wear with shorts or a cute sundress.

Please be prepared for the overload of shoes I'm about to share here. I'm a shoeaholic, what are you gonna do?

Pearls, pearls, pearls

Now I know that seashells are all the rage for the season because summer, beach and so on. And as much as I do enjoy them, I can't help but fall for the other magic accessory of the sea - the pearl. Pearls have always been a favourite of mine. They just ooze regal, royal and feminine. I've been wearing pearls for as long as I can remember and now I plan to wear them even more.

I'm definitely a diamonds and pearls girl, like most. I plan to just continuously wear my pearl jewellery, which is dainty, and I am happy to pair it with white gold or gold jewellery - versatility is key. I also plan to clash white gold and gold jewellery more too as I feel that it's not as awful as it sounds, plus with the balance of the pearls it doesn't seem like it's over done.

The pearl barrettes and clips are super on trend and I'm so glad that they are. So buy a couple of those (or DIY like I did) and add those to your look for a sweet chic finish.

What other Mediterranean inspired details are you adding to your wardrobe this Summer? I'd love to know. As Summer rolls in, I'll be dreaming about sipping wine and reading a book on the Amalfi Coast...

Lots of Love,
