Ready For Dinner, Dressed For Bed: Why The Pyjama Trend Is The Perfect One

Outfit: Pyjamas - Custom / Heels - Tony Bianco / Bag - Aldo

If there's a style for me that will never die out, that will be in my wardrobe forever, it would be the pyjama trend. There's something utterly comforting about being able to wear fancy silk pyjamas out of my house.

If you've been following me for a while, you will know that comfort is key for me and what's more comfortable than pyjamas? Nothing. What's more, the pyjamas I'm talking about are those classic piped ones. The epitome of boujee pyjamas are silk piped ones and over the years they have become more than a statement for the bedroom, but for the streets too.

I don't believe its possible to class up any other style of pyjama enough that you could wear it for dinner. I mean you could, but it wouldn't be as effortless as doing so with silk pyjamas.

This particular style is one that I have been wearing for years and I've never shied away from. Recently, I've decided to tailor more of these sets for my wardrobe in various colours because if there's anything I strive for in my clothing, it's comfort. I would rather be utterly comfortable than be restricted and anxious the whole time I'm wearing an outfit.

Pyjamas for me are one of those easy outfits for when I'm feeling either my best or worst. I could wear them casual with sneakers or dress them up with heels. For me, there's nothing more too it than that because you have an outfit put together so easily.

Yesterday when Mum decided she wanted to take us for a surprise dinner, it took less than a minute to decide what to wear - I instantly was going for a pyjama set. They feel wonderful to be in and still look elegant.

I wore this chocolate brown pair with a light pink trim, which I hadn't worn yet but since we had them made I've been dying to find an occasion for them. Paired with my classic Tony Bianco mules and Aldo bag, it was the easiest outfit that made me feel good.

With Christmas round the corner, I think pyjamas are the perfect choice for any smart-casual event. Wearing a festive coloured piped pyjama this season is not only fun and comfortable, but for some reason feels utterly fitting for this time of year.

So will you be wearing your pyjamas out this Christmas and beyond?

Something New, Something Blue

Outfit: Dress - Custom / Necklace - SheIn / Shoes - Tony Bianco

Okay I'm back and this time I'm hoping that its not fleetingly. Over the last few months, things have been a bit of a whirlwind with my master's degree, but now that all my classes are over (YAY!), I have more time and attention to dedicate to this space that I love. I know I've neglected it and maybe it's not perfect (which sucks for my perfectionist tendencies), but I'm just going to be as authentic as possible over here and I wanted to start this new phase off with a fashion decision that I've made going forward.

If there's anything I've noticed lately, its that bold fashion is the way forward; colour, prints, accessorising, making a statement. After being essentially locked up for a year (and some continuing to be locked up, I feel for you), it's no surprise that we're planning outfits in advance that allows us to express ourselves fully.

I'm definitely taking this into account; I don't want to just wear the simple basics anymore, I want to add the bolder colours and prints. So of course I started with blue because it's my absolute favourite. There's something about this shade of azure blue that gives me a Summer vibe; it's so reminiscent Greece or the beautiful blues of the sea. Maybe that's just me, but it just speaks more than the regular blues that I wear.

I paired it with a gold chain belt as a necklace and my favourite Tony Bianco mules to keep the accessories in tone without being too statement. This is the kind of outfit that can be worn so many different ways, casually or dressed up, because its a simple shirt dress. It's all about how you accessorise. I even think doing a full blue monochrome look would be super sweet too. The shirt dress style as a whole is a classic and silk-satin versions just give it a new elevation, making it the perfect addition for Spring Summer. Now my dress is custom, but I've found some great dupes below for you! Click to shop now, and why not try out a bold colour for a change.

The Ultimate Silk Satin Blouse Guide For Perfect Parisian Chic

Outfit: Top - Custom // Jeans - Levi's (711 Super Skinny, but they aren't on the website)

Silks and satins are all the rage right now and they are pretty much on every fashion girl's mind. The material has always been my forever favourite - first with those classic silk pyjamas that made you feel like a princess, but now its more than just material for the more intimate apparel. Silk pyjamas can be worn in the day without question, silk camisoles are no long hidden beneath your clothes, and silk slip dresses are better on show.

The royalty of silks and satins can elevate any outfit, especially a pair of jeans. If you take your staple jeans and slip into a silk blouse, you will be fash-on or on trend or whatever you want to label it. You will have nailed Parisian chic in an instant and who wouldn't want to be a Parisian cool girl?

One brand has deepened my love for silk blouses with just one piece - Orseund Iris. I've seen this blouse constantly on my Pinterest and dreamed about it. Then I found it on WhoWhatWear (and cried about the price tag) and thought about where I can buy similar pieces that will be effortlessly chic without a mega price tag. But if you're ready to spend your paycheck, then I've got those options too.

I wore this silk blouse (pictured) for Christmas day and I now plan to be an outfit repeater always because I'll never get rid of it. I had this piece made, here in Sri Lanka, but I found a similar style in the exact same colour on Net-A-Porter - this Vince blouse is absolutely stunning if you're willing to fork out the dosh for it (it's on sale, but it's still a hike of a price).

I'm focusing on blouses solely because I feel that we've all been exposed to the silk cami with lace trim, which I adore and own many of because they are forever. And the silk slip dresses are also around, but I haven't dipped into those yet - when I do, be sure to expect a post. The reason I'm talking about the blouses is because they are more versatile; you can take them from day to night and back again without being tired of them. They are worth the investment and you won't care about repeating an outfit over and over - because let's be real here, you don't buy a piece or whole outfit just to wear it once, I mean I wouldn't.

I have hunted in my favourite places to shop for the silk and satin blouses that are timeless and will never leave your wardrobe. Their old school with a new twist edge just give you something else. These blouses are both simple yet statement and can be worn with whatever you dare.

I think I've shared enough options to satisfy your needs (or my own). Personally I plan on making a few more like the one I'm wearing while I'm here in Sri Lanka (I'm a sucker for the ease of custom tailoring here). However you most likely will see a few of these linked options pop up in my wardrobe or on my Instagram in the near future because look at them, they are gorgeous. If you've found some beautiful silk or satin blouses, link them in the comments below so I can broaden my choice and break my bank to feel super glam.

Love Always,

Emily xx
